Top 10 Countries Affected by Extreme Weather Events During 1998-2017 (Fatalities)

Extreme weather events are natural disasters that are inevitable and devastating. According to Germanwatch – a Germany-based non-profit, more than 526,000 people over the world died as a direct result of more than 11,500 extreme weather events during 1998-2017, and the total economic losses amounted to around US$3,47 trillion.

With global warming, both the number and intensity of extreme weather events are increasing. To better manage weather-related disasters, it may be important to know which countries are most affected. The following are the top 10 countries affected by extreme weather events over the past two decades, in terms of fatalities.
